Pumpkin Head Dolls

Hi! I haven't been very active posting to my blog lately, but I'm still here, creating. I'd like to introduce you to Peter and Herkimer, my Halloween Art Dolls.

They look a little like scarecrows, except there's no straw sticking out of their clothes. Their pumpkin heads are paper clay over paper mache. They are painted in acrylic paint and sealed with a clear acrylic spray.

Herkimer might be considered the oldest of the twins, because I finished him first. Although, I can't remember which one I started on first, and I pretty much made them simultaneously. He wears a homespun plaid shirt and osnaburg drawstring pants.

Pete is wearing homespun plaid shirt and pants. He's not as style concious as Herk, and he doesn't care if he mixes plaids.

They are somewhat poseable, with pipe cleaners in their limbs. Their bodies are stuffed with shredded paper, which adds to the scarecrow look/feel.

I'm thinking about adding some rusty jingle bells somewhere on them, and stuffing some shredded raffia into their shirt sleeves and collars, what do you think?

I hope you have enjoyed viewing my Halloween OOAK dolls. I will be adding these to my Etsy store.

Happy Sunday, all. Hope to hear from you!
Maggie

Hi Miss Maggie,

I'm Prudence Clearwater and it's a pleasure meeting you.

I love your twins - they are wonderful. I think the rusty bells and raffia would be a fun addition. However, I am a teddy bear stuffed with fiberfill & plastic pellets so my opinion may not count. (o:

I love these pumpkin head twins, they're wonderful and once again you've created something I want. Funny, I was thinking about making a pumpkin head doll too but after seeing your's I don't think I will. I'd rather have yours. I'm in agreement with Prudence about the raffia and rusty bells although these guys are wonderful as is.
I see you've changed the appearence of your blog again. I really like this look. Hugs

they are adorable! I say yes to adding the bells, and the raffia, when I first saw them I thought they were scarecrows too :-)
Can't help you on the Ebay question though, that's always a tough call. Whatever makes you comfortable I'd say.

Maggie, I love this new look for your blog. It is so Halloweenie. You even have my favorite scary movie character on your side bar. I loved those old black and white horror movies. Love you

hey maggie, thanks for visiting my blog. An inukshuk is a stone structure made in the shape of a human. It's used by the Inuit, to let fellow travelers know they are on the right path. They can be found in the northern territories, and during the Vancouver Olympics, the image of an inukshuk was used in the souvenirs. I've drawn a few of them over the years, they're pretty cool :-)
